Spotlight on one of our star coaches here at CFCA; Dianne Parisi! If you know Coach Di, then you know her contagious smile and energy. And have you ever gone on a quarry run with her? If so, you've heard her say it...you may not believe it, but you're..."ALMOST THERE!" And if you think you know Coach Di, wait until you read her answer to the last question!
What is your fitness background? What were you doing before CrossFit?
I have played sports my whole life and played softball and ran cross country in college. This love for sports and athletics brought me to Salem State where I received my BS in Sports Fitness and Leisure. I then taught classes at the Y for years and coached soccer, cross country and softball. Before CrossFit, I was mostly running and playing softball.
What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?
My thought was "wow, how am I going to keep doing this?, but, I love it!"
How did you get into CrossFit?
One of my best friends from home, Wendy, is a NY Detective, and she was doing CrossFit, she kept telling me "Di, you should try it, you would love it!"
What were your goals when joining CrossFit?
My goal was to get ripped and feel strong!
Have you achieved any of those goals?
Yes, one goal was a pull up, and I was finally able to do multiple Strict Pull-Ups!
Favorite WOD:
All Hero WODs are my favorite, especially Lumberjack and Murph.
Least Favorite WOD:
No least favorite! LOL, even if I look at it and say, "Oh No." I am always happy and glad I did it when it's done.
Favorite Lift:
Thruster used to be my favorite, but, now it's Clean and Jerk.
Least Favorite Lift:
Overhead Squats. Woof
What music do you prefer to WOD out to?
Classic Rock and Country!
Do you have any special memories/ achievements during your time here?
SO many memories I have at CrossFit that would be hard to narrow down so here are a few:
The community, quarry runs, gym parties, DBB win, and most of all the friendships I have made along the way. I know if it I had not joined CFCA, our paths may have never crossed.
What advice do you have for people just getting started?
My advice is "show up" and you will never regret it. The community is welcoming, supportive and fun!
Something the other members might not know about you?
I can breakdance.
